Why the hell can’t chicks be more like guys?

That question plagues high school senior Sam Cruz. Sam is perfectly happy being a player. He just wishes girls wouldn’t change the game from sex to relationships. It makes him look like an asshole. But when Sam’s best friend, Ally Klinger, gets dumped, she begs him to transform her into someone who can screw around then screw off. No risk of heartbreak that way. It’s Sam’s chance to create the perfect female AND cheer up his best friend. Armed with Sam’s Three Step Guide to Backseat Success, Ally gets the game better than Sam thought she would and before long, Sam has his wish: the female version of himself. Too bad it’s driving him nuts. Told from Sam’s and Ally's alternating POVs, Sam Cruz’s Infallible Guide to Getting Girls is a fast-paced romantic comedy that follows these teens as they navigate the minefield of sex, love, and friendship.

This book contains strong language, drinking, euphemisms, and lots of “bow chicka wow wow.”

It's a very light and quick read and a very funny book actually. This wasn't on my TBR list but upon seeing , I can't help but be curious especially with the title. There is something really familiar with this book and I feel like I've read something like this before. I just don't remember the title anymore.

SAM CRUZ is Ally Klinger's bestfriend. They've been friends since forever. And to his victims, he's the baddest asshole ever! Yeah right. He's pretty mean to his women, but according to him, he just treats them according to how they approach him. He really has a point. If you don’t want to be played, then don't play around. He never says no to women seeking good time. But when he's around his bestfriend, he can be sweetest friend. The question that always pops up in his head every time he sees a girl crying over his boyfriend, "Why the hell can't chicks be more like guys?" So when his bestfriend was dumped by his geeky boyfriend and asked for his help to transform her, he accepted the challenge. Little did he know that his devised rules will backfire to him.

THE RULES A.K.A. SAM'S INFALLIBLE GUIDE

  1. Stay cool. Never let girls see you jonsing. Especially if you want to get them back to your place.
  2. Never take them back to your place. Ditching them will be harder by a billion and make you look like an asshole. Good times, happy parting.
  3. "Friends with benefits" is the greatest phrase ever invented by a guy. Enough said.
  4. Never refuse sex when it's on the table. Life's too short. There is no such this as "I have a headache" for guys.
  5. Desperation is ugly man. Girls like cool moves, not filing restraining orders.
  6. Never get caught up in that love crap. It will just wreck everything. Trust me.
When you follow all this rules, it would be a total success. So from the geeky and lumpy looking Ally, came the vixen and girl equivalent of Sam and he may have created a monster better than him.

ALLY KLINGER. She's really a geek and she always wear baggy clothes . But inside those clothes is a body to die for. When his geeky boyfriend with a not-so-fragrant armpit dumped her, she decides to change her ways. She realized that she doesn't want to get hurt anymore and if boys can play, she definitely can. She got a new haircut, ditched her eyeglasses, and got a new wardrobe. Then she mastered the art of playing with boys. She became a master that she can even outdo Sam. But one crazy night resulted to a complication no one of them foresaw. She hooked up with Sam.

What I like about these two is how they feel at ease with each other that they even talk about the most awkward things.

FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS. So for a while they indulge in their lust. It seems that they can't get each other out of their system. So they indulge a bit more. Sam was worried because they don't spend any friend time anymore and everytime they were together they can't get each other's hand off their bodies. So they agreed to be just friends.

After a time, Ally confessed that she loves him more than a friend but Sam was adamant that he doesn't do love and he's afraid to lose Ally if they became a couple. But in the end, Sam's feelings for her took over and he finally got the courage to profess his love for her.

The ending is just a little too abrupt for me. For most of the book, the author convinced me that Sam is a player who doesn't do relationships and all of a sudden, at the end of the book, Sam confesses to Ally. I got really annoyed with Sam because he thinks that being her bestfriend is enough evidence that they should be together. It was unfair for Ally obviously. I just didn't like the ending. And I still feel Sam just confessed to her so she won't leave him.

Pardon me for this review. It has been a while since I read it and the details are not as clear as I would want them to be. I just got caught up with my readings that I got lazy to write a review.

You girls keep screwing up the game plan with relationship crap.
Evolving is a process not a destination.
You're the left brain to my right. The jelly to  my peanut butter.
If I can love you after all I know about you, it must be real.
