Book Review: Just The Sexiest Man Alive

Title: Just The Sexiest Man Alive
Author: Julie James

Synopsis:
A fabulously fun, romantic comedy from a dynamic new talent.
Nothing fazes Taylor Donovan - not in the courtroom and not in her personal life. So when she's assigned to coach People's 'Sexiest Man Alive' for his role in the next big legal drama, she refuses to fall for the Hollywood heartthrob's charms. Even if he is the Jason Andrews.

Genre: Romance

Thoughts on the Book:
This is my first time to read a Julie James book and I must say that it's definitely not going to be my last. Oh my goodness, she can definitely write! Susan Elizabeth Phillips might have found her match. James'books can definitely be adapted as a romantic comedy music.
This book is definitely a great read. It's very romantic. It's a refreshing story because somehow it's different from the other romance stories I've read. Mind you, I've been reading a lot of SEP, Jude Deveraux, and Judith McNaught lately that I exactly know how each of their story will end.
What I like about the story is that the woman is a lawyer and her partner is a hollywood superstar. The synopsis said it all and that was why I read it. I so love the couple. I love reading stories like this where a famous hollywood actor becomes head over heals in love with his girl. I also like the fact that James' created two matured characters - both in their early thirtees actually.
James Andrews is so irresistible and he's got brains too. I like Taylor's name. It's so appealing. The good thing is she didn't got smitten by James Andrews that fast.
The cross-examination inside the court was one of my favorites especially the time when James walked in during one of Taylor's moments with the witness.
Overall, it is a very fun and quick read. If you want something funny, witty, and romantic, this is just the book for you. Not just this one, but all of Julie James'book. I so love her!

Quotes From The Book
"What do you think?"
"Oh, I'm not the right person to ask. I don't see that many romantic comedies."
"Dramedies. And why is that? You don't believe in love?"
"Of course, I believe in love. Although I'm not sure I believe in love like you see in movies."
"I don't know... I suppose it's the idea that there's one person out there for you. The so-called perfect match. It's not a logical concept."
"You know, just because love like that hasn't happened to you doesn't mean it doesn't exist."
"I'm sure you're right. I suppose I'm not your target audience, that's all."
"Let me give you a bit of friendly advice, Taylor. Life isn't always about logic and reason-sometimes you just have to close your eyes and jump. Particularly when it comes to relationship."

"Falling in love with anyone was a gamble. "

Book Review: Partials

Title: Partials
Author: Dan Wells

Synopsis:
The human race is all but extinct after a war with Partials - engineered organic beings identical to humans - has decimated the population. Reduced to only tens of thousands by RM, a weaponized virus to which only a fraction of humanity is immune, the survivors in North America have huddled together on Long Island while the Partials have mysteriously retreated. The threat of the Partials is still imminent, but, worse, no baby has been born immune to RM in more than a decade. Our time is running out.
Kira, a sixteen-year-old medic-in-training, is on the front lines of this battle, seeing RM ravage the community while mandatory pregnancy laws have pushed what's left of humanity to the brink of civil war, and she's not content to stand by and watch. But as she makes a desperate decision to save the last of her race, she will find that the survival of humans and Partials alike rests in her attempts to uncover the connections between them - connections that humanity has forgotten, or perhaps never even knew were there.
Dan Wells, acclaimed author of I Am Not a Serial Killer, takes readers on a pulse-pounding journey into a world where the very concept of what it means to be human is in question - one where our humanity is both our greatest liability and our only hope for survival.

Soon everyone in Chicago has a stake in the outcome, right down to Annabelle's overprotective book club. When the matchmaker promises she'll do anything to keep her star client happy ... does she mean anything? He starred opposite Kim Sun Ah in My Name is Kim Sam-Soon. I haven't watched the series though. It's just after I watched Secret Garden that I became interested so I googled him. And that's when I realized that he was that guy in Sam Soon.

***
I have watched one of the movies he starred in. It's entitled A Millionaire's First Love. And boy-oh-boy, the guy doesn't look a bit like Hyun Bin. I never realized it was him until recently. I love this movie. It's a tearjerker.

***
And of course, who haven't watched Secret Garden? I so love this drama. It's funny. It's heart-wrenching. It absolutely has everything you want in a drama. Plus the actors are great too. It has Hyun Bin and Ha Ji Won. It's perfect!

Remember his track suit jacket? :DD

***
I like his team-up with Ha Ji Won. They make a great couple. They have a chemistry actually.

FANGIRLING 101: Korean Male Actor Pick #8

Kim Hyun-joong

Kim Hyun Joong (Hangul: 김현중, Hanja: 金賢重) was born on 6 June 1986. He is a South Korean entertainer and the leader of boyband SS501. Kim is well-known for his role as Yoon Ji Hoo in the 2009 Korean drama Boys Over Flowers, winning Best Actor Award at the Seoul International Drama Awards 2009, and Popularity Award at the 45th PaekSang Arts Awards. He is also known for playing in the late 2010 Korean drama Playful Kiss, as Baek Seung Jo. He is a style icon in Korea, winning several icon awards.

***
I first saw him in Boys Over Flowers playing Ji Hoo's character. He's the counterpart of Wa Tse Lei in Meteo Garden. I didn't like him at first because my eyes are set for Lee Min Ho. Then there was this scene where he was focused and I took a good look on his face and DANG, I realized how handsome he was. He's darn cute and I love his skin! It's so flawless.

***
He also starred in Playful Kiss opposite Jung So Min. I like his mean and his brainy brainy character. I also like his look in the series. It's something different from his previous look in BOF. The drama was a feel good one. The usual brainy-guy-meets-stupid-girl type. It was purely fun. It targets the younger audience.

***
Before I forget, Kim Hyun-joong is also a singer and a dancer. He's the leader of SS501. I haven't seen him perform yet.

***
I hope he'll do more challenging roles in the future. I want to see more of his acting prowess.

FANGIRLING 101: Korean Male Actor Pick #7

Lee Dong Wook

Lee Dong-wook (Hangul: 이동욱; born November 6, 1981), is a South Korean actor who is best known for his leading role in 2005 as Seol Gong Chan in the television drama My Girl. He went on to star in La Dolce Vita and Partner. After completing his national service with the Korean armed forces, he began work as one of the leads of Scent of a Woman.

***

I've first set my eyes on him when My Girl was shown in the Philippines. It's one of the dramas I've anticipated to watch every night before retiring to bed. He was paired with Lee Dae Hee in the mini series. I love their chemistry. The show was cute, very refreshing and it makes the audience feel good.

***
After his return from his military service, he made a comeback through Scent of a Woman where he played as Kim Sun Ah's love interest. I haven't watched the series completely but I've seen some of the episodes.

(drools. LOL!)

***
I also saw one of his movies called Heartbreak Library where he was paired with Eugene. The movie did not have a strong impact to me. I didn't find it as heartbreaking as I expected. I expected it to be a hard drama but it wasn't. The story's twists was expected. In short, the movie is forgettable. It doesn't give a lasting impression to the viewers.
