Book Review: Linger

Title: Linger
Author: Maggie Stiefvater

Synopsis:
Now, in Linger, they must fight to be together. For Grace, this means defying her parents and keeping a very dangerous secret about her own well-being. For Sam, this means grappling with his werewolf past . . . and figuring out a way to survive into the future. Add into the mix a new wolf named Cole, whose own past has the potential to destroy the whole pack. And Isabel, who already lost her brother to the wolves . . . and is nonetheless drawn to Cole.
At turns harrowing and euphoric, Linger is a spellbinding love story that explores both sides of love—the light and the dark, the warm and the cold—in a way you will never forget.

Thoughts on the Book:
This is where the Wolves of Mercy Falls series gets exciting. The story not only focuses on Grace and Same. Isabel shines in this book to and an addition to the cast, Cole St. Clair.
Cole St. Clair, famous lead singer of a fast rising band called Narkotika, is Beck's newest recruit. He is a rebel son. He wants to run away from his life that's why he accepted Beck's offer. He didn't knew that upon his arrival in Mercy Falls, he is bound to face a more complicated life.
Isabel on the other hand, still feels guilty about what happened to Jack. So in her spare time, she reads books on meningitis or any disease that may lead to the creation of an antidote for werewolves to become humans again.
Sam and Grace are practically living together in Grace's house though her parents don't know. I wonder how Grace feels towards her parents. I mean, who wouldn't feel bad for having parents like that. They don't even check if their daughter is okay.
San and Grace are a picture of a picture perfect couple. They knew what each other are thinking even without asking. Sam is the romantic type between the two. As usual, he still makes songs and poems for Grace. He returned to his job at the bookstore. He does all the things he never imagined to have still time to do though he still can't believe he's a human now. A human who will never be shifting into wolf again. Sometimes, he still think that he might shift.
The twist happens on the middle of the book when Grace starts to feel that her headache is getting worse. She feels sick all the time. She ran away from home just to spend her remaining days with Sam.  And after how many days, she was rushed to the hospital and experiencing near-death situation.
This is were Cole enters. I guess one of the reasons Beck recruited him is because he knew that he has a hidden talent. I guess, somehow, Beck wanted those werewolves who wants to shift to humans to get a cure. That's Cole's role. To find a cure.
The ending was sad. Cole managed to prevent Grace from dying so he infected her with werewolf's Venom to help her shift to wolf.

Quotes from the Book:

In an equation that only she wolves
These X's and Y's by other names called
My way of dividing is desperately flawed
As I multiply days without her.

***

One thousand ways to say good-bye
One thousand ways to cry
One thousand ways to hang your hat before, you go outside
I say good-bye good-bye
I shout it out so loud
Cause the next time that I find my voice I might not remember how

***

Folded in my arms you're a butterfly in reverse
Giving up your wings inheriting my curse
You're letting go of
me
you're letting go
